(Baby) Oatmeal Stout

Season-appropriate Oatmeal Stout, and it's finally seasonally cold.

Projected IBU: 27.09
Wort Boil Time (min): 60

Fermentables:
71.20% -- 8.50 lbs Maris Otter
10.47% -- 1.25 lbs Oats
05.50% -- 10.50 ounces 6-row Chocolate
05.50% -- 10.50 ounces Victory
03.66% -- 7.00 ounces Roasted Barley
03.66% -- 7.00 ounces Caramel/Crystal - 80L

Hops:
1.75 ounces East Kent Goldings at 60 min

Extras:
1 tsp Irish Moss at 15 min
7 grams Gypsum in mash

Yeast:
Safale S-04

Mash:
Sacch rest: 60 min at 154F

  • 12/10/2013: Brewed 
  • 1/23/2014: Kegged
  • 2/19/2014: Dumped Oatmeal Stout! Some leakage issues with one of the keg posts, and our inability to successfully transfer a carbonated Oatmeal Stout to a new keg meant that we had to dump it. Horrible. We both got to taste a few pints, and Kayla made bread and cookies with some of the beer too. 
Tasting Notes:
  • Lighter than it should be and a little hazy (Week of 1/21/2014), hopefully will clear with time
  • Think we'll call it a Baby Oatmeal Stout
