Hoppy Rye Ale

We like using rye malt from time to time. We find it gives are beers an interesting texture and flavor. For this small batch beer, we decided to see how far we could push the percentage of rye in the grain bill. We were shooting for a beer that had distinct rye character with a malty back bone. This is not exactly what resulted. Hence the name, "Nothing to Wrye Home About".

sMasH Beer (Golden Promise/Ahtanum/London III)

A small batch sMasH beer to test out a couple new ingredients. Especially excited to try out Wyeast 1318 - London iii ale yeast, a possible new yeast for hoppy beers.

Red IPA

We wanted a nice red malty IPA for the the spring. Something that is balanced but not quite as light as the session IPA that we just kicked. The malt bill of this IPA is based of Lakefront Brewing's Fixed Gear Red Ale. The hops we chose were El Dorado and Simcoe. Simcoe hops are one of our favorites for hoppy beers. We have never used El Dorado hops before but we are hoping they play well together.

Oatmeal Stout & Coffee Stout

We are finally getting around to brewing our winter seasonal stout. Since it's well into spring, we decided to split the batch between oatmeal stout and coffee stout.

Best Bitter

As much as we love hoppy beers, it is nice to get some practice with more malt forward beers. British best bitters are great malt-forward beers that you can drink a lot of. We like to keep more sessionable beers in our keg fridge in order to have quicker turnover between beers. This recipe is mostly based off of our friend Roy's recipe, which we tasted and really enjoyed recently.
